Is Gay Marriage Actually The First Step in Human Extinction?

Age: 19

Gay marriage has always been a controversial topic to talk about because people have different ideas on what is constitutionally correct. After reading a piece in The Washington Times titled, "Obama's Homosexual America: President champions the culture of death" by Jeffery T. Kuhner, I knew a formal rebuttal was in order. The question being addressed is if gay marriage will bring us closer to demise in the human race. If this statement is true should gay marriage be legal or illegal? Kuhner claims Obama is trying to allow gay marriage to become legal and that he "champions the culture of death". Kuhner is against the entire gay marriage proposal and thinks Obama is doing this to get more votes in the next election by reeling in the gays. My stance on the entire gay marriage proposal is that people don't just choose whom they love and people can't just force other people to live a certain way because it is culturally correct. Not everyone is a homosexual, so we won't just die off. The reason being that family is always going to be there because people are still going to reproduce because of different beliefs.
Some people say that restrictions on homosexuals getting married are "discriminatory" and "homophobic". I would have to agree with that statement. Kuhner has nothing but bad things to say about what President Obama is trying to do in office. He goes on saying that "the president is a radical social liberal and supports 'strong' civil unions for homosexuals. Obama claims that the restrictions on homosexuals getting married are 'discriminatory' and 'homophobic'. I think Kuhner just doesn't fully understand the whole gay lifestyle. Gay people are people as well and should be treated the same way as any other person in the United States. This is America, home of the brave and land of the free. We can't even say that now a day because there are restrictions on everything you can imagine, but I guess we can go on believing things will get better.
Kuhner also claims Obama is trying to make homosexuality a "permanent" and "legitimate" feature of American Life. Obama has no control over what people decide to do, so how can anyone say that he is trying to make gay marriage a permanent feature of American life? The first person to ever 'come out of the closet' and be mentally abused is the reason for the gay community in America. You can't blame what other people do on a single person; it's just not logical. All kinds of different people is what makes the world go around. Kuhner speaks of a gay revolution and states that "the most destructive aspect in this 'revolution' is against traditional morality…His administration already has successfully backed the military's 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy, thereby enabling homosexuals to serve openly in the armed forces." Kuhner needs to get the facts straight that Obama actually pushed for the policy to be repealed. In my mind gays are American's, so why can't they show pride in their country and serve to protect us? One thing people need to realize is that all of these rules on gays are holding people back from living a fulfilling life. It is hard for gay parents to adopt babies and not letting them marry is yet another dagger to the gay community. I don't understand how people can try and force a lifestyle on someone.
Another point Kuhner was trying to push in his argument is that Obama really doesn't care too much about gay marriage, but is simply trying to let it happen so he can get the votes he needs for the next election. Kuhner's exact words were, "it is only a matter of time before Mr. Obama comes out of the closet for homosexual marriage-probably just before the 2012 election to galvanize the homosexual constituently, which has become a powerful force within the Democratic Party. Yet his attack on DOMA is not only for political purposes. It is also ideological." I really believe since people don't like to step out of the box they are just plain scared of the gay community. People usually tend to disrespect people and things that they know nothing about. I believe Obama's strategy is an excellent political maneuver and he is giving people what they want, which is the right to live the lifestyle they choose to live.
Allowing gay marriage seems scare people because homosexuals cannot procreate, this trend is said to continue and eventually lead to human demise. How can anyone make a ludicrous statement like that? I think it's ridiculous to think just because we allow gay people to become married everyone is going to want to be gay. Not everyone has homosexual tendencies and that means we won't stop populating Earth. Kuhner quotes that "the homosexual lifestyle signifies the triumph of neo-pagan Epicureanism. By this very nature, homosexuality cannot fulfill the primary function of sex: procreation and the reproduction of the human race. It is inherently a socially barren act. A homosexual society is a childless one doomed to extinction."
The last topic of gay marriage to speak on is if it's a "civil right". Kuhner doesn't think marriage is for everyone, he states that "contrary to the claims of liberals, marriage is not a "civil right"—something to be dispensed at the behest of anyone who wishes it. If this were true, it would unleash the floodgates. All forms of sexual behavior could claim discrimination. It's a recipe for moral anarchy and social disintegration." The way I look at it is different. If people feel like they need to claim discrimination because of the treatment of them being different they will with or without legalizing gay marriage. I just think people really don't want the gays to be happy because they are different. You already can't discriminate against anyone anyway; it's against the law. If a gay man or woman has a ring on their finger symbolizing marriage, what really is the difference? Everyone should have the right to love and happiness, and if marriage brings that it should be allowed. Some people think if we allow gays to marry it will open the door to legalizing other forms of "deviancy" such as polygamy, incest, bestiality, etc. But, those topics are totally different because they stumble upon so many different rules and regulations. [Not to mention animal cruelty.] If I were Obama, I truly would be going crazy right now with all the problems we have to sort out.
To make my final stance on gay marriage, I say that it should be legal throughout the USA. Everyone has the right to a happy, fulfilling life and no one should have enough power to take that right away from them. Obama is starting to see how "homophobic" the US culture is, and maybe someday an end will come to discrimination of all people.
